42 North was founded in 1984 at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign. Although its members came from a variety of technical backgrounds, all shared a knack for creative expression, and 42 North became a magnet for creative individuals. In 1987, 42 North ceased to be an official University organization, but lived on in the hearts and minds of the original members.
This domain began as a focal point under which the former members can gather their collected works – at a time when such things actually helped people find a place on the internet. These days, anyone can hang out a sign, put up a profile, or run a blogvloginstatubetok… so, I’ve more or less adopted 42north as a personal domain.
Still, there were still some pretty neat things that came out of those years at U of I.
