Hawaii 2024 – Goats, Kona, and the Great Bag Hunt

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. You pack a couple suitcases for vacation, and you stress out about coming in under the magical 50 pound bag limit. So you pack two suitcases. One is 40 pounds. The other is 48 pounds. That leaves you some room for some souvenirs on the way home. Right?

Nope.

But first we woke up and sat out on the deck sipping coffee, and watching as a giant … uh … flock? herd? goatisserie? … um group of goats came down from the golf course fairway, and started munching on the decorative plants in the condo yard.

Anyway, back to the luggage issue…

I don’t know if you realize this, but sweatshirts are heavier than t-shirts. And coffee mugs are heavier than nothing. And when you buy a half-dozen sweatshirt/hoodies, and eight mugs, and various other knickknacks, you are cruising for a problem. Unless you can invent more room in your luggage — or more accurately. Buy more luggage.

Knowing we had a challenge in this area, we went back to Kona looking for a large enough bag to add the extra capacity we’d need, but user-friendly enough to be a carry-on. And if it happened to look Hawaiian at the same time…

You’d think this was simple. But it took a bit of time. We wound up doing more sight-seeing in Kona, and found what we were looking for at Da Big Bags store.
