Monday, we hopped aboard a catamaran sailboat, and set sail for a little snorkeling along the reef near Keahuolu Point. The captain of the vessel was named Mike. Both Mike and I approved of his name, much to Becky and Sara’s amusement. We then dubbed his first mate to be an honorary “Mike” as well.

After an hour of that, we enjoyed a sandwich and salad lunch while cruising near one of the cruise ships anchored outside of Kailua-Kona.
That evening, we were back at the condo, and had a chance to see our first of many Hawaiian sunsets. If you look in the distance, you can see several whale spouts. The Humpbacks were all over the shores. We’d see many spouts, flukes, and even a few breaches — unfortunately we didn’t catch any of the latter events.
Weary from a full day of fun and sun, first Monday came to a close.
