The world of Dark Conspiracy is a dark, alternate future set not far from where our world sits. In my version of Dark Conspiracy, the alternate history diverged in 1987 when automated trading systems caused an economic collapse. In our reality, the SEC stepped in and halted trading when the slide began. In the alternate reality, something prevented that intervention and the world economy imploded. Personal fortunes were erased in a matter of seconds. Corporate fortunes were secured in a series of mergers and acquisitions. The political landscape was left in shambles.
For the most part, the incursions from the other side were happening without general knowledge by the public, or for that matter the majority of the government. And so, without anyone to notice or to try to oppose their acts, the Dark Ones began a slow invasion of our world, sending their minions to accelerate the inevitable demise of humanity.
The players in Dark Conspiracy take on the role of Minion Hunters – people who have become aware of the dark menace and who have devoted their lives to stem the tide, and hopefully to buy enough time to change the course of future history.
